Spinning some pretty yarn

When I saw these batts for sale I just had to buy them. (Yes, even though my stash is overflowing!) They are 3.2 ounces of lusciousness in BFL, silk, and bamboo. The colors are so beautiful. Ordered them and when they arrived I immediately started spinning them up on my Kromski Fantasia. Finished the first batt in an evening and the second the next evening. Plyed my singles on the third evening.

I spun each batt up by color to create a long color run in the yarn. I love working with colorways like this. Here's a picture of my finished yarn wound up in a ball. I now have. 210 yards of I'm guessing a sport or DK weight yarn to play with. It's so pretty that I have to dream up something fun to make from it.

These batts were so smooth, well prepped, and easy to spin that I have been extremely tempted to go back and buy a braid of merino/tencel in shaded pinks or to order the 3 month rolag club. Then this morning I learned that Roe of Purls is offering a 15% off discount this weekend on all purchases.

Oh, oh! Step away from that keyboard and lock up the credit cards! LOL!

I'll offer more eye candy by showing you the gorgeous turquoise stitch markers I also purchased with the batts.

Will I share a link for this shop and the discount code? Why not? I can't keep this Etsy shop to myself.

Discount code for 15% off through Sunday is DROP15. Use this code at checkout to get 15% off your order.

Better now wait long to check it out, I'm on my way over to see what items are calling my name. LOL!

Baby Blossoms - a baby blanket to crochet

Baby Blossoms is a good blanket to crochet for a baby boy or a girl depending on what colors you use to make it. The floral block pattern is easy to crochet in sc, dc, and ch. A simple border in a contrast color is added after finishing the blanket.

You'll need 1100 yards of DK/sport weight with a size H crochet hook for a 37.5” x 37.5” (9x9 blocks) blanket. Use 950 yards of worsted weight with a size I crochet hook for a 40” x 40” (8x8 blocks) blanket. The 5 page pattern has written and charted instructions for two sizes in both weights of yarn. Pattern sells for $3.00 in my Ravelry pattern store.

Chill Forecast Hat & Cowl to knit

Chilly Forecast is a hat and cowl set for women. Both are knit in the bottom up in the round. The swirl stitch pattern is very easy to knit. Keeping the top of the hat in pattern as it decreases is a little tricky but follow the instructions and it will work out. Finish the top of the hat with an I-cord knot. Pictured hat was knit with Malabrigo worsted on a size 8 - 16” circular and dpns for the top. Hat measures 19” at ribbing, 22” around body and 9” tall. Hat is a little slouchy. Use a smaller size needle for a smaller hat. Cowl was knit with Malabrigo worsted in lettuce on a size 9 - 16” circular. Finished size is 29” around x 6” tall. (Make a longer cowl if you like.) About 255 yards of any Aran weight yarn should make the hat and cowl. The two page pattern sells for $4.00.

Jet Stream Scarf & Hat for guys to knit

Jet Stream is a hat and scarf set designed for a guy in Aran or heavy worsted weight yarn. The hat is knit from the bottom up in the round and the top finishes with a garter stitch rectangle that finishes with a Russian garter stitch graft joining the seam. (It’s easy! Directions are provided.) No double points needed! The scarf is knit in the round and can be worn looped twice around the neck or one end slipped through the loop to look like a necktie. Hat knit with 125 yards on size 7 - 16” circular. 21” around x 8.5” deep. Scarf knit with 250 yards on size 9 - 16-24” circular. I used Lion Brand Heartland for the hat and scarf. After washing and laying scarf flat it measured 68” x 6”. Options are given for making a smaller cowl with 100-150 yards. The four page pattern sells for $4.00.
