Woo-hoo! I took my newest shawl off the blocking board this morning. Isn't she a beauty? It's an easy and fast knit that looks a lot more complex than it really is. It doesn't take a lot of yarn. I knit this small shoulder shawl with a 350 yard skein of Mountain Colors Weavers Wool quarters (dk) on size 8 needles.
I'm in the process of finishing the pattern, but I can't come up with a name for it.
Anyone want to take a shot at naming it? If some one can come up with a name I like, I'll give them a free copy of the pattern.
You have until Friday, February 22 to send in a name(s).
Post a comment or send me an email with your entry.
I would say Pyramid Hearts, or Hearts of the Pyramid
ReplyDeleteI like CUPID'S ARROWS because the large arrow points remind me of arrow heads and, with the hearts, surely the arrows belong to Cupid!
ReplyDeleteAll my Love Shawl maybe? I like the Cupid's Arrows though. :)
ReplyDeletehearts a flutter - pretty shawl
ReplyDeleteIt's. . . well, LOVEly! :)
ReplyDeleteTo me, it suggests connections and reflects how each of us are connected to each other by love.
Therefore, I'd call it something like Love Connection or Heartstrings. Or go all exotic and do something like Cordes de Coeur (heartstrings in French). :)
What struck me is the architectural detail...kind of Frank Lloyd Wrightish, but also very wing-like. So it could honor/refer to both FL Wright and the Wright brothers flight? and it would be the "Wright" shawl for me to knit for first shawl, I think
ReplyDeleteWell, there are 18 hearts along the edges, so I'd suggest "18 Carat Love Shawl"
ReplyDeleteVery pretty.
I see hearts and steps so I was thinking "Stepping into Love"
ReplyDeleteHow about Giza, as in pyramids of?"
ReplyDeleteEros Diamond Ladder Shawl
ReplyDeleteLovely design. How about "Stairway to My Heart"
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a Manta Ray with its wings spread, although I know that doesn't really say anything about the clever hearts in the border.
ReplyDeleteI have 2 suggestions!
ReplyDeletelove-in-idleness
or
Hathor's Pyramids (Hathor was the Egyptian Goddess of Love)
BelovedOne on ravelry
Etruscan. :)

Heartfelt Steps
ReplyDeleteI found your contest through Ravelry. The shawl looks very architectural to me, and the clean lines remind me of Frank Lloyd Wright, so I'll call it Wright Angles.
ReplyDeleteHay Ride.
ReplyDeleteI should be automatically disqualified from this contest, because upon first viewing, I completely missed the clever little hearts.
ReplyDeleteI was more focused on the triangles, which put me in mind of Machu Picchu, which might be a good name, except that it does nothing to call attn to the hearts.
SO after collecting my tangential thoughts, I came up with Peruda in honor of the Incan goddess of love.
Linear Nouveau
ReplyDeleteIntersections of the Heart.....the heart loves in many ways and different intersections in life take you in different directions on the journey. Beautiful design.
ReplyDeleteUnchained Melody? Unchain My Heart...I don't know.
ReplyDeleteI see Aztec when I look at your very lovely shawl!
ReplyDeleteHearts Entwined. Love the design.
ReplyDeletePillars of Love
ReplyDeleteI think "Intersections" myself... it is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteLove Grows!
ReplyDeletemy first thought was Aztec..but i see someone else suggested that, so i will go with "Aztec Hearts"
ReplyDeleteIt looks to me like 4 tiered wedding cakes (or just cake)and the trim of hearts. "Wedding Wishes" or "The way to a mans heart" " i love cake!" very nice design...kudos!
ReplyDeleteI saw Egypt and the Great Pyramids when I saw the shawl, so here's my name for it
ReplyDeleteHieroglyphics
Celtic Hearts
ReplyDeleteThey say that the moon will be blood red tomorrow for the lunar eclipse, so I'm going to go for that....Lunar Eclipse.
ReplyDeletehmmmmm, Hearts' Wings?
ReplyDeleteit's amazing! i can't believe it was only 350 yards!
I'm in the camp that saw the architectural elements. How about Modern Deco-- a current version of an Art Deco idea. bev
ReplyDeleteit reminds me so much of the log cabin quilt variation called Courthouse Steps. that could actually flow right along with the hearts theme and the idea of couples happy on the courthouse steps...
ReplyDeleteI would say ''Twist of the Hearts''
ReplyDeletelove
ferda
Twisted Hearts
ReplyDeleteTwisted Love
I can see the wings....so how about "Wings of Flight"
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely and even if I don't win, I think when you have this available for sale I will get it!
To me it looks like 2 Stealth Fighters, but the hearts say Love, not War, so my name for it would be Make Love, Not War.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I'd say Wings of the Heart!
ReplyDeleteCupid's Bow?
ReplyDeleteLadybird
ReplyDeleteI like the name "Interwtined", because of the way the lines that made the hearts intertwine... Just like the hearts and lives of those we love.
ReplyDeleteI really like your shawl. How about Connected at the Heart, or Love's Entanglements, or Spread the Love, or even Straight from the Heart.
ReplyDeleteThis reminded me of the geometry my son has been working on in 6th grade where they fit shapes together - tesselation. How about that?
ReplyDeleteTesselation
Phoenix.
ReplyDelete"Inca Steps" if I won this pattern I would knit it in fine alpaca as this would seem very appropriate
ReplyDeletePheonix Rising - it looks like Native American wing art to me.
ReplyDeleteThat is lovely. I agree with the architectural feeling of it. What comes to mind for me as a name is perhaps "Cityscape," or if you want to refer to the hearts as well, perhaps "Heart of the City."
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
How about "Arms of Love"
ReplyDeletePythagorean Love or just Pythagorea or something like that.
ReplyDeleteVicki
ReplyDeleteThe shawl is gorgeous! Waht a combination of color andd esign to make this POP!
It's striking yet so very simple and uncomplicated. Makes me think "Hearts Afire" would be a good name.
How about...
ReplyDeleteFoundations of Love or
Love Span
I am so not good at these kind of things.I would love to have one so I am suggesting Heart's Desire.
ReplyDeleteInterlocks of Love? I don't know exactly. I do know it's a work of art.
ReplyDeleteLove Kite Shawl. To me it looks like two beautiful kites floating in the air. It's lovely!!!!
ReplyDeleteI see hearts and diamonds and rectangles. All diamond engagement stone shapes. How about Carot Cuts?
ReplyDeleteor
