Crocheters have been asking me for some time to come with a crescent shaped shawl. It took me a couple of tries to come up with shaping that worked. This shawl uses the same stitch pattern as Sweet Tea but results in a crescent shaped shawl.
I used a 490 yard skein of KR Dyeworks Ultra merino 3 ply sock yarn and a size G hook for this shawl. Blocked it measures 68" along the neckline x 21.5" deep. The stitch pattern is simple but effective, especially when worked in a yarn with a long color run. It would look great made in a solid color too. You could even work the 2 row border in a contrasting color.
The picture below was my first try at this shawl using Noro Taiyo sock yarn (462 yards). After getting a bump at the center back neckline that would not block out, I made some modifications to create the shawl at the top of this post. (You can make this shawl with a 462 yard/100 gm ball of sock yarn by omitting a row or two in the body of the shawl before adding the border.)
The three page pattern includes written instructions and crochet charts for the body and border. The pattern can be found in my Ravelry pattern store.
Now that I've figured out the shaping, I'm hoping to have another crescent shawl design worked out soon. :-)
