Tunisian Tides Shawl to crochet
Tunisian Tides Shawl is a different crochet riff on my Autumn Filigree design. Instead of a regular crochet hook it is made with a Tunisian crochet hook with a flexible cable extension. The slightly asymmetrical shawl is worked sideways in Tunisian Simple Stitch, vertical ladders, and a lace border. The pattern assumes you have a basic knowledge of Tunisian simple stitch.
My shawl was made with 600 yards of worsted weight yarn and a size J (6 mm) Tunisian crochet hook with a flexible cable extension. The edging used about 60 yards of worsted weight yarn in a contrasting color. My shawl finished at 59” neckline x 27.5” deep at center back and 84” along the bottom edge. The edging adds another 2” to the length. The shawl will be larger if you block it. I used a microfiber yarn so I settled for washing and laying it out flat to dry.
This easy-to-hook design can be worked in any weight of yarn by changing the hook size to suit the yarn. You want a soft and not stiff fabric. Make it as small or large as you like depending on how much yarn you have.
The 5 page pattern with written instructions and a Tunisian crochet chart can be found in my Ravelry pattern store.
