Escape Cape to knit

Knit an easy cape to wear this fall to stay warm. Escape Cape knits up fast on big needles. This cape is knit sideways in short row wedges with a little lace at the bottom edge. Add buttons or knit and wear as a shawl.

You’ll need 380 yards of a bulky weight yarn and size 11 (8 mm) knitting needles, 3 stitch marker, and 4 buttons. The cape is about elbow length measuring 24” at neckline x 17” long x 57” around. I used 3 skeins of Yarn Bee Tender Touch in willow green from Hobby Lobby for the pictured cape.

Instructions are given for modifying the pattern to make a smaller, larger, or longer cape, or shawl.

The 3 page pattern has written instructions only.

Love Catcher Baby Blanket to crochet

Love Catcher is a filet crochet heart baby blanket worked in one piece using DK or sport weight yarn with a size G crochet hook. (Though you can make it with any weight of yarn by changing the hook size to suit the yarn.)

Edc (or dc) and chain stitches are the only stitches used in this pattern.

The finished size in DK weight yarn was 35.5” wide x 33” long. I used Bernat Baby Sport (a DK weight yarn) and a size G crochet hook to make the pictured blanket. I used 1,100 yards of yarn.

Work the blanket in one color or change colors on every row of blocks.

The 3 page pattern has written instructions and a crochet chart. You can find the pattern in my Ravelry pattern store.

I Heart Autumn Scarf to crochet

This is my I Heart Autumn Scarf. It's fast and easy to crochet!

Crochet a fun and easy heart scarf to wear this fall. This is filet crochet that uses only dc and chain stitches. I used a skein of Noro Silk Garden sock yarn and a size G hook to make a scarf of 20 heart blocks. 5” wide x 80”.

Make your scarf as long or short as you like and with any smooth textured yarn using a hook size that works for that yarn weight. It’s a good single skein project.

Two options are included for making each block a different color or working a symmetrical version. The three page pattern includes written instructions and a crochet chart. The pattern can be found in my Ravelry pattern store.

Aldo Hat & Scarf for guys - a knit pattern

Aldo Scarf is a scarf designed with a guy in mind. Worked in easy knit and purl stitches, the stitch pattern looks the same on both sides. The scarf is cast on and knit sideways in long rows. You’ll need a size 7 (4.5 mm) 29-36” circular knitting needle to handle all the stitches and 250 yards of worsted weight yarn. 50” x 5.5” (unblocked). Scarf is crumpled after knitting it. 62” x 5.5” after washing and laid out flat to dry. The 3 page pattern includes written instructions and stitch charts.

Aldo Hat Here’s a fun, textured hat to knit for a guy. The hat is knit top down with a circular needle. No double points needed! Stashbuster Poncho to knit

Recently, I decided to knit a poncho as a gift for my hairdresser, Donna. Ponchos are popular again and I knew she would love one for the colder weather. I gathered up all my scrap yarn in her favorite colors -- black, white, and gray -- for this project. I had partials of Lion Brand Pound of Love in white, Yarn Bee Fetching in sparkly onyx black, Bernat Softee Baby in white, Yarn Bee Soft Secret in shiny fog, Red heart Soft Baby Steps in elephant, and a bumpy novelty yarn from Gala that shaded from white to gray to black. The ruffle at the bottom is Red Heart Boutique Sashay Metallic in diamonds. I double stranded the yarns to create a bulky weight and cast on with size 11 needles. Knit in the round doing increases along and changing to size 13 needles and finally to 15 needles for drape. I split the bottom edge and worked a few rows of garter stitch before binding off with a little ruffle yarn for a flirty bottom border. The thank you note she sent says she loves it and is looking forward to wearing it. People ask her all the time where she gets the beautiful hand knits she wears and where they can purchase them. (grin)

Knit a Stashbuster Poncho from the top down in the round creating your own bulky weight yarn from what you have on hand. Stash dive for colors that go together in yarn weights from sport to heavy worsted and double strand them. Choose different colors, shiny, sparkly, novelty and smooth textures. Knit the chevron front version or plain version. 20” neck (unstretched) x 23” long x 50” around. Begin with ribbing on size 11 needles, change to 13 for yoke and then to 15 for drape. Make it elbow, wrist length or longer. Split one side and work several rows of garter before binding off with a little ruffle yarn added to the bind off. You can substitute 450 yards of bulky or super bulky weight yarn that recommends using size 11 or 13 needles. It’s fun, flirty, and fast to knit! The three page pattern can be found in my Ravelry pattern store.

High Hopes Scarf to knit in 2 versions

My High Hopes Scarf pattern is now available. High Hopes is a curved collar type scarf knit from the border up to the neckline. Cast on a lot of stitches and quickly decrease them out as you knit the border and the scarf. Knit it in a single color (pictured below) or two colors (pictured above). The borders are a little different. Pull the ends through a metal ring or hairband or let them hang.

The top one was knit with Stitch Nation Bamboo Ewe in mermaid and Kraemer Perfection in Sand. It was blocked. The one below was knit with one skein of Bernat Mosaic, a yarn with a long color run. This one was washed and laid flat to dry. Size is 39" neckline x 6.5" deep.

You’ll need 200 yards of Aran/heavy worsted weight yarn and a size 8 (5 mm) circular knitting needle (or 100 yards of two colors). Finished size after blocking is 42” neckline x 7” deep. The 3 page pattern is available in my Ravelry pattern store.
