Oregon Trail Shawl
Oregon Trail is a warm and snuggly garter stitch shawl that is knit in three colors. It begins as a sideways knit scarf. Then stitches are picked up along the bottom edge and knit down in stripes. It is finished with a ruffle and applied I-cord along the neckline edge. Finished size of the shawl is 54” wide at neckline x 20” deep (unblocked). Blocking isn’t necessary.
The shawl is knit with worsted or Aran weight yarn on size 8 (5 mm) circular knitting needles. You’ll need 3 (or more) colors of yarn with a total of about 550 yards. Choose a light, a medium and a dark or bright colors that work together.
I used Stitch Nation Bamboo Ewe in Color 1 (Beach Glass) about 334 yards, Color 2 (Mercury Gray) about 132 yards, and Color 3 (Mermaid) about 78 yards.
The 3 page pattern has written instructions only. The pattern can be found in my Ravelry pattern store.
