Here's another of my cat toy patterns. These only take a minute to make. If you can do a chain stitch, double crochet and half double crochet stitches, you can make these simple ball toys.
CROCHETED CAT “ROLLIES”
Crochet hook size G or H
About 4 yards worsted weight yarn (scraps are good)
Large eye jumbo tapestry needle
Cotton balls
Pattern is now available through Ravelry.

I volutneer at a no-kill animal shelter plus have six cats of my own! I'm thinking these will be great for my favorite kitties. I might add a bit of catnip for added exctiement!

A cute and easy toy to make for my kitties. I may add a bit of catnip before I close mine.
A great way to use up scraps as well!
Thank you!

Good Job! :)

Hi! Thanks for posting this pattern. Just curious though because I knit endlessly but don't crochet often ... in the start-up, do you mean to join in a ring and do 9 doubles in the ring? You said do 9 doubles in the "stitch" farthest from the hook. Just need a little extra instruction, sorry!

I just made a few for my cats, what a fun projects! I used polyfil instead of a cotton ball (it's what I had handy) and dipped the filler in valerian root powder before stuffing the balls. (cats love the stuff) They are having a WONDERFUL time.
I've been using your pattern for a couple of years now and I've made many, many kitty rollies for my own cats, as well as shelter cats. You should see the excitement when I dump a bag of these into a shelter cage - the cats go crazy over them! They are simple to make, quick, and inexpensive. Thanks again for sharing this great little pattern!
Great pattern very quick to make. My kitten loves them. Even when he looses them I don't care since I can make one in less than five minutes. Also, this is great for using up scraps. I put a jingle bell inside.
Some cats will be getting these for Christmas!!
