You'll need size 7 or 8 knitting needles, about 12 yards worsted weight yarn, and 2 stitch markers to knit one of these. It is knit from nose to tail in one piece with a simple seam along the bottom

I purchased the inKnitter magazine just so I could get the charity knitting section with your cat toys. I would like permission to knit up cat toys using your pattern and donate them to a local group, Feline Urban Rescue and Rehabilitation in Whitehall, PA.
This group would sell them as a way to raise funds for spay and neuter, tests, and vaccinations for the cats which they rescue and make available for adoption.
These toys are so cute, especially the whale.

oh, what a great idea! i created a pattern by myself last year - from this year on i sell those handmade mouses and all the income goes to disabled cats in germany.

Hello! I wanted to thank you for your patterns. We use the Whale and Mouse patterns to support our local animal adoption center--both to sell in the adoption center (all proceeds to the animals), and to give to adoption center kitties (without catnip, so no visitors get hurt!). I have an 18 years old cat and an 11 years old. I thought That my cat might enjoy the whale as she still love to play. However, my dog Lulu (she is tiny and much smaller than Sage, my cat)decided that she would keep the toy for herself. It is a big relief for our family as Lulu's dad, Billy died at the age of 12, 2 months ago and this is the first time since his death that Lulu played. Thank you as we did not know what to do any more to comfort her.
I am knitting cat toys for our local Humane Society Christmas sale. I made the "whale" and it is fantastic. Would you share your "mouse" pattern or any other cat toy patterns with me - it would be nice to make a selection of toys for the sale.

I am a vet tech at a local animal shelter in Maine. The cats and kittens are always looking for toys to play with while they are waiting for their new homes. I'm going to try and make some of these (I'm newer to knitting so we'll see how it goes!) and bring them to the shelter for the cats. Thanks for sharing your pattern! I know the cats appreciate it!!
